Hana Červinková
Program Director of the European Doctorate in Teacher Education at University of Lower Silesia. A professor of cultural anthropology and education, she is the founding director of the International Institute for the Study of Culture and Education, a center for practice and scholarship at the ULS in Wroclaw. With a Ph.D. from the New School for Social Research in New York, her academic interests include Central European transformation, urban anthropology, action research, and educational ethnography.
Lotar Rasiński
Professor of Philosophy and Methodology at the Faculty of Education at University of Lower Silesia and a Director of the University Press. For his latest book entitled, In the Footsteps of Marx and Wittgenstein. Social Criticism without Critical Theory (2012, in Polish) he was awarded the top academic honor by the Prime Minister of Poland (2014). He specializes in contemporary political philosophy, philosophy of language, and critical theory.
Maria Czerepaniak-Walczak
Professor of Education at University of Szczecin. She is a specialist in teacher education and her research focus on transformative teacher learning, action research, and pedagogy and emancipation.
Josefine Wagner
An Early Stage Researcher at the European Doctorate in Teacher Education at the University of Lower Silesia. She holds an MA in Educational Studies from the Free University of Berlin and has completed her teacher training at a secondary school in Germany where she taught English, History and Politics. Her experiences with inclusive school settings have inspired her to start a research project focusing on the changes that the implementation of the UN-CRPD has on the educational landscapes across Europe.
Lucie Bucharova
is an Early Stage Researcher at the European Doctorate in Teacher Education at the University of Lower Silesia. After graduating from the University in Hradec Kralove where she acquired a MA in Primary School Education, she taught in Czech elementary schools for 20 years before she decided to pursue doctorate studies at ULS. She is interested in Czech elementary teachers, the changes in their profession, their social positioning and the differences between state and private schools.
Tamas Toth
An Early Stage Researcher at the European Doctorate in Teacher Education at the University of Lower Silesia. Tamas holds an MA in Educational Studies and draws from a wide record of experiences as an educator in voluntary, pedagogical work with Roma communities as well as an activist in social and political movements of Hungary. His research topic concentrates on the critique of ideology with a particular focus on education in two post-socialist, semi-peripheral countries embedded in the context of neoliberal capitalism – Poland and Hungary.
Urszula Kłobuszewska
Project Manager of the European Doctorate in Teacher Education at University of Lower Silesia and international programs manager at the International Institute for the Study of Culture and Education (IISCE) at the ULS. Ula is responsible for the organization of the program in Wroclaw.
Beata Zwierzynska
A doctoral student at the European Doctorate in Teacher Education at the University of Lower Silesia. She holds MA in English Philology and Literature and has additional training in ICT, EFL and educational management. Prior to joining the doctoral studies, Beata worked as an EFL teacher in Polish public schools and in private language schools for 16 years. She has also been a teacher trainer, a volunteer at an orphanage and NGOs. In her project, she is interested in empowering teachers and creating communities for teachers’ collaboration and thus, changing school cultures.
Agata Gajewska-Dyszkiewicz
A self-funded researcher at the European Doctorate in Teacher Education at the University of Lower Silesia. She studied at the Institute for Applied Social studies and the Oriental Institute at the Warsaw University. In her capacities as a researcher at the Warsaw based Educational Research Institute she has been involved in a series of student assessment and school effectiveness studies. Her current interests focus on teacher education, comparative education and education for development. In her PhD thesis Agata explores the changes in beliefs and practices of Polish teachers embarking on a teaching career in the UK.
Monika Rusnak
A self-funded doctoral student at the European Doctorate in Teacher Education at the University of Lower Silesia. Monika holds an MA in English Philology from the University of Wroclaw. She has 15 years of experience as an English teacher in various types of schools that also work inclusively. Moreover, she is a teacher trainer in mediation and formative assessment. She is concerned with increasing problems in communication and cooperation between teachers/ schools and parents. This has encouraged her to start a research project aiming at creating a school- based community of practice for teachers and parents in order to support the various learning needs of students.
Beata Telatynska
A self-funded doctoral student at the European Doctorate in Teacher Education at the University of Lower Silesia. She holds an MA in Polish Philology from the University of Wroclaw and a teaching certificate. Beata’s teaching experience spans over a time period of 15 years. Most of her career she worked at a technical school, teaching 16- to 19-year-old students who go on to become construction workers. Besides this, she is a trained secondary school examiner. In her research project, Beata is interested in challenges that students face with learning disabilities.
Agnieszka Licznerska
A self-funded doctoral student at the European Doctorate in Teacher Education at the University of Lower Silesia. She holds an MA in English Philology from the University of Wrocław and has received training in special education. She has been a teacher of English for 15 years. Agnieszka’s research studies focus on inclusion at the intersection of mainstream education and special education.
Anna Babicka-Wirkus
Co-supervisor at the European Doctorate in Teacher Education at the University of Lower Silesia. She holds a doctorate in Social Science from the University of Szczecin. She is an educator and sociologist as well. Currently Anna is a Head of Social Concern Research Centre and a tutor of Students Scientific Association “Progressum” at Pomeranian University in Słupsk. Her academic interests include children rights, school culture, critical pedagogy, educational ethnography and critical discourse analysis.
Ewa Stoecker
A self-funded doctoral student at the European Doctorate in Teacher Education at the University of Lower Silesia. She holds an MA in Applied Psychology from the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. She is a certified anti-discrimination trainer, educator and researcher working mostly in non-governmental sector for last 15 years. She was Jagiellonian University’s expert in the Educational Leadership project which prepared new formula of professional development of school principles. Ewa’s PhD thesis focuses on anti-discrimination education in teachers’ pre-service training.
